IEEE Mansoura Student Branch : LAUNCH ”IEEE OLYMPICS 1.0 “

  • By ; Basel Khaled

In a world where customers are more connected, more tech savvy and
more demanding than ever before, innovation has never been so crucial.

The increasing consumer expectations and the rate of technological
change both make it harder to climb into the labor market with nothing
but an academic degree. Thus, IEEE Mansoura Student Branch seeks to
qualify students with the needed qualifications for the labor market.

IEEE, The world’s largest technical professional organization
dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity, has
more than three thousand student branches around the world.

And IEEEManSB is one of the most active student branches whose
volunteers are always seeking to achieve the goals of IEEE, believing
in the vision of the organization to create a smart, mature and
    creative engineering community.

Over the years, they actively work on many different events and
activities to help the community to become more aware of all different
tracks of technology and how to connect to the labor market.

Their special efforts this year are directed to the first edition of
IEEE Olympics, A one of a kind event that is inspired by the spirit of
    the Olympics Games.

It aims to bring technical contests in multiple fields altogether
while keeping an atmosphere of fair competition. The event will be
held on 10 September 2020 until the 5th of October.

To fulfill the meaning of olympic competitiveness in the event, it
consists of 5 contests that can be divided into 3 categories:

Category 1: Mobile Application & Game Jam.

Category 2: Problem solving - CTF (Cyber Security).

    Category 3: Graphic Design.

Category 1:  long-term projects with mentoring, follow-ups, and
appropriate technical and motivational sessions through 3 qualifying
    phases.

Category 2 contests go through 2 stages. The top 3 places are to be
determined and declared after the 2nd stage.

Category 3 consists of only one contest which is more like a
Hackathon; where the students are given a society issue and asked to
simulate it using graphic design. The top 3 places are to be declared
    after rating all the participants.
