Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has honoured the participants of the 9th Future Engineer Winter Camp through a virtual platform.
DEWA honoured 30 of its employees’ children aged between 12 and 15 years old. The winter camp started on 13 December 2020 and lasted for two weeks. The 9th camp covered several scientific areas including building solar power robotic modules; 3D printers; power generation by human effort; advanced Python programming; Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and four-legged robots. The camp had interactive workshops, awareness and educational activities to enhance the personal capabilities of the participants and encourage them to showcase and strengthen their talents.
This also helped them explore their passion in electrical engineering and Artificial Intelligence (AI). “As a socially government responsible organisation, DEWA launches initiatives and programmes to develop a passion for knowledge, learning science and technology among the next generation and help them realise their potential and talent. We also encourage them to study scientific and engineering specialisations.
This is done according to the best global practices, to establish a knowledge environment supportive of national aspirations, most notably in preparing the next generation of creative and innovative minds, said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
The parents of the participants thanked DEWA for providing a motivating environment for creativity and development. Modafar Shaker, father of Oun Modafar, noted that DEWAs keenness to organise the camp virtually amid the exceptional circumstances, reflects the great importance it attaches to its employees and their families. He said that DEWA strives to protect their safety, develop their skills, and make their vacation time useful. Sayed Ibrahim, father of Nouran Sayed praised the variety of the camps subjects which covered several technical and educational areas.
This positively affects the personality and knowledge of the participants. Since its launch, the camp has attracted 254 staff children from DEWA. They have created many innovative and promising projects that will open the doors for shaping their future.
The happiness of participants and the parents at the Future Engineer Camp was 100%.
