Raya Smart Buildings, a subsidiary of Raya Holding for Financial Investments, recently hosted a strategic session with Sungrow, the global leader in renewable energy and power-conversion technologies, marking a significant milestone in the partnership that powers Electra — Egypt's fastest-growing EV charging brand.

The session brought together Thompson Meng, Group Vice President of Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd. and President of the OSKA Center & MEA Region, Ahmed Khalil, Group CEO of Raya Holding for Financial Investments, and Ahmed Ibrahim, CEO of Raya Smart Buildings. The visit signals a deepening of the bilateral relationship, with both organizations reaffirming their commitment to accelerating Egypt's transition toward sustainable electric mobility.

Electra, the EV charging brand operated by Raya Smart Buildings, was established as the product of this strategic partnership — bringing Sungrow's world-class charging technology to the Egyptian market and combining it with Raya's deep knowledge of the local business environment, infrastructure network, and customer ecosystem. Today's meeting underscored that this is not a transactional supplier relationship, but a long-term collaboration built on shared values: innovation, sustainability, and the conviction that Egypt's electric mobility transformation must be matched by infrastructure that is fast, reliable, and scalable.

With Electra now operational across New Alamein City — including some of Egypt's first 180kW ultra-fast charging stations — and an expanding network across Cairo and major intercity corridors, the roundtable went beyond reviewing what has already been built. Both sides used the meeting to align on the next phase of the partnership: developing innovative, disruptive solutions that address the real barriers holding back Egypt's EV market. Chief among these is the challenge of grid infrastructure — a constraint that limits where and how fast charging can be deployed at scale. Raya Smart Buildings and Sungrow committed to tackling this head-on, with a shared roadmap focused on introducing new products and solutions designed to overcome grid limitations and make high-quality, high-speed charging accessible across a far wider range of locations. These upcoming innovations are intended to cement Electra's position not just as Egypt's current benchmark for EV charging, but as the brand that continues to define the category.

    SHARED VISION & STRATEGIC PILLARS

Sustainable growth: both Raya Smart Buildings and Sungrow are aligned on a long-term, infrastructure-led approach to Egypt's EV market — not a product launch, but a full ecosystem build committed to continuous innovation.

Technology leadership: Sungrow's isolated air-cooling ultra-fast DC charging technology, deployed through Electra, sets the technical benchmark in Egypt at 180kW — the highest charging capacity currently available in the market.

Electra as differentiator: the partnership positions Electra not as one of many charging providers, but as Egypt's category-defining brand — combining international technology with local service depth, 24/7 technical support, and smart energy management.

Grid innovation: the roundtable outlined a shared commitment to developing new products and solutions that directly address Egypt's grid infrastructure challenges — unlocking locations and deployment models that current grid constraints make difficult, and opening fast charging to a significantly broader market.

Sustained differentiation: the joint roadmap is designed not just to maintain Electra's current lead, but to keep extending it — through continuous product innovation that ensures Raya Smart Buildings and Electra remain the category-defining force in Egypt's EV charging market.

QUOTE — AHMED IBRAHIM, CEO, RAYA SMART BUILDINGS

“What we have built with Sungrow goes far beyond a commercial agreement — it is a partnership rooted in a shared belief that Egypt's electric mobility future deserves world-class infrastructure, and that we are the ones to build it. Electra is the expression of that belief: a brand built on innovation, on the relentless pursuit of better solutions, and on a commitment to making high-quality EV charging accessible wherever it is needed. This meeting reinforced that both sides are fully aligned on where we are going next, and we are excited about what we will bring to the market together.”

QUOTE — THOMPSON MENG, GROUP VICE PRESIDENT, SUNGROW POWER SUPPLY CO., LTD. & PRESIDENT, OSKA CENTER AND MEA REGION

“Sungrow's partnership with Raya Smart Buildings is one we are deeply proud of — not just for what Electra has already achieved, but for the shared vision and values that continue to drive it forward. We both believe that innovation must serve a purpose: making clean, fast, reliable energy accessible to more people in more places. That conviction is what brought us together, and it is what will keep pushing us to develop solutions that raise the bar for EV charging in Egypt and across the region. We are just getting started.”
