    Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, witnessed the signing of three agreements to allocate new frequency bands in the 2600 MHz frequency space between the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Vodafone Egypt, Telecom Egypt and Telecom Egypt, after completing all the regulatory procedures to reach the optimal form of allocation in order to maximize the benefit of These frequencies are reflected in the quality of service provided to the user.

    The three agreements were signed by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority; Engineer Hussam El-Gamal, Chief Executive Officer of the Agency; On the part of the companies; Mr. Mohamed Abdullah, CEO of Vodafone Egypt, Eng. Adel Hamed, CEO of Telecom Egypt, and Eng. Hazem Metwally, CEO of Telecom Egypt; In the presence of Eng. Hany Mahmoud, Chairman of Vodafone Egypt, Dr. Majed Othman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Telecom Egypt, and Eng. Gamal Sadat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Telecom Egypt.

    And in his speech; Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology confirmed that these agreements represent an important step to raise the capabilities of the information infrastructure, indicating that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology had begun implementing a project in early 2019 with investments amounting to 30 billion pounds within one year to support the infrastructure. Informatics, which contributed to increasing its ability to face the challenges posed by the Corona pandemic, which led to doubling the loads and increasing peak hours to reach 15 hours per day, as well as the information infrastructure contributed to the success of the distance learning system and electronic tests for first secondary students.

    Dr. Amr Talaat thanked everyone who contributed to the completion of the signing of these agreements, which amount to 1.170 billion dollars. We appreciated the efforts of the Signal Corps, the Board of Directors and staff of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, the work team of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the mobile companies that acquired frequencies; And stressing the continuity of work to develop the information infrastructure and improve all communication and Internet services provided to citizens

    This step comes as a continuation of the bidding process carried out by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) with the aim of allocating new frequency bands with a width of 2 x 40 MHz in the frequency space of 2600 with TDD technology for companies licensed to provide mobile services in Egypt, as this process resulted in Vodafone Telecom Egypt obtaining 40 MHz, Telecom Egypt on 20 MHz, and Telecom Egypt on 20 MHz, for $ 1,170 billion.

     

    Within the framework of the comprehensive plan to improve the quality of telecommunications services provided to citizens in the Arab Republic of Egypt, new standards were set by the signed agreements to raise the level of communication services provided in the Egyptian market (voice services - data transmission) in line with the highest standards and internationally recognized standards.

    It is worth noting that these agreements will contribute to motivating mobile phone service providers to make new investments in developing and raising the efficiency of the infrastructure of mobile networks, which will lead to improving the quality of the communication services provided, and raising the degree of readiness of these networks to provide future telecommunications and information technology services, taking into account international quality standards. In line with the country's strategy to support digital transformation.
