Alaa, a 32-year-old woman from Jordan, but living in Abu Dhabi had been struggling with her infertility for nine years. She and her husband had been having difficulty conceiving despite undergoing 23 rounds of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatments through various other IVF clinics. However, determined to be parents, the couple did not lose hope and continued their battle with infertility. Soon enough, they were blessed with a healthy daughter, after their first and successful cycle with IVI Middle East Fertility Clinic. “The couple had previously undergone 23 unsuccessful trials of IVF treatments worldwide but none of them had paid off. When they first came to IVI Middle East, they had already been trying to have a baby for nearly a decade.

Although the woman had a regular menstrual cycle of 30 days with no dysmenorrhea, the husband has been diagnosed with Cryptozoospermia, or low sperm count in semen samples,” said Prof. Dr. Human Fatemi, Subspecialist Reproductive Medicine and Reproductive Surgery, and Medical Director at IVI Middle East Fertility Clinic.

The couple underwent an IVF procedure at IVI Middle East Fertility Clinic, Abu Dhabi along with Pre-implantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) on the embryos and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) technique.

According to Prof. Dr. Human Fatemi, the PGT-A was performed to evaluate the couple’s chromosomal information and to ensure that only chromosomally normal embryos would be implanted in the uterus, which would, in turn, increase the chances of a successful pregnancy. The husband was also placed under medication for three months to enhance sperm production.

“We retrieved 21 oocytes (egg cells) from the woman’s ovaries, out of which 18 mature oocytes underwent ICSI using fresh ejaculated sperm from the husband. Four were normally fertilized and were biopsied for PGT-A. One embryo was chromosomally normal and was transferred to the uterus. As a result of this treatment cycle, the patient got pregnant and gave birth to a healthy daughter,” added Dr. Fatemi. Alaa and her husband are one of the thousands of couples who visit IVI clinics in search of top quality treatment in reproductive medicine.

“We had lost our hope of becoming parents, until we visited IVI Middle East Fertility Clinic. Dr. Fatemi has been a blessing in disguise, and we can’t thank him enough for lighting up our lives,” said the couple who delivered the baby through IVI’s expert consultation and treatment. IVI Middle East is the world leader in delivering fertility treatments in the region and has clinics in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE and in Muscat, Oman.

“There are many factors that make IVI Fertility a global leader in reproductive medicine. A multidisciplinary team of highly specialised professionals and state-of-the-art equipment are a critical aspect of our success. More importantly, our accomplishments are anchored on our dedication and passion to help couples fulfil their dream of having a baby and fighting the odds.
